Laser Tattoo Removal
Pre-Procedure and Post-Procedure Guide
Pre-Procedure
1 Month Before:
Sun Protection: Protect your skin from the sun daily using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50+ , reapplying every 2 hours. Avoid tanning beds and self-tanners.
Skincare Routine: Continue with your normal skincare regimen.
The Day of the Appointment:
Shave the Area: Shave the area being treated to remove any hair. This is for your comfort during the procedure.
Wear Comfortable Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area. Be mindful that some numbing gel may get on your clothes, however this can be easily removed with most laundry detergents.
Post-Procedure
The treated area may feel numb or tingly for 30 minutes to an hour after the procedure. All numbing gel will be removed, and the skin will be cleaned, allowing you to go about your day as normal.
It's normal for the area to feel dry and itchy. Avoid scratching and, if necessary, use a hydrocortisone cream to help with the itch.
Skin Reactions: The skin may be slightly pink and feel warm to the touch for a few hours.
Avoid Sweating: Refrain from excessive sweating for the first 24 hours.
Tattoo removal typically requires multiple sessions, but you'll notice a gradual fading of the tattoo with each treatment.
FAQs
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
The sensation varies from person to person, but it's often described as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin or a hot prickling sensation. Most people tolerate it well, and we can apply a topical numbing gel or local anesthesia beforehand to minimize any discomfort.
How many laser tattoo removal sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required depends on several factors, including the size and complexity of the tattoo, the ink colors used, the age of the tattoo, your skin type, and the location of the tattoo. Larger and more intricate tattoos typically require more sessions. Certain colors, like black and red, are easier to remove than others, like green and blue. Older tattoos tend to respond better to laser removal than newer ones. Different skin types react differently to laser treatment, and tattoos on areas with good blood circulation tend to fade faster. Our expert providers will assess your individual needs and provide a personalized estimate during your consultation.
Are there any side effects for laser tattoo removal?
Temporary side effects are common and may include redness and swelling in the treated area for a few days. Small blisters or scabs may also form, which is a normal part of the healing process. It's crucial not to pick at them to avoid scarring. Following aftercare instructions diligently is essential to minimize any risks.
Can all tattoos be removed with laser tattoo removal?
Most tattoos can be successfully removed or significantly faded. However, certain colors (like green and blue) may be more challenging. Our expert providers will discuss the realistic expectations for your specific tattoo during your consultation.
How long should I wait between laser tattoo removal sessions?
The recommended interval between sessions is typically 6-8 weeks. This allows your skin ample time to heal and for the fragmented ink particles to be naturally eliminated by your body.
